Argumentative Essays Without Research Samples

Argumentative Essays Without Research SamplesSome writers use argumentative essays with no research samples. I'm not talking about writing a one off 'one of these days' article with no research, I'm talking about writing an essay that is research based. I can see no reason why any writer should write without some basic research in the piece or without a working sample that they can refer to in the essay. So, what about a one off blog post or article? Why do we not suggest this for argumentative essays? Well, firstly because when you first write it, you will be quite aware of how to write and what readers look for in arguments, and secondly, writers get argumentative in arguments often as readers too so there is little point in setting yourself up to lose if you don't have an argument. Why do I recommend that you produce a working sample before you start writing your argumentative essay? Because when you write the essay you will be thinking on your feet, you may think about ideas that y ou have been thinking about but have not written down or you may have changed your mind on a topic in the middle of the essay and wish to rewrite the whole thing in such a way that you meet the demands of your argument. I wrote an essay about this the other day and it was because I had reached the end of the essay, but thought about something else, changed my mind, but couldn't get the draft up to speed, started again and found the time and effort it took to finish the essay completely covered by just a few hours time. All these things are avoided in arguments if you don't have a working sample to refer to.Argumentative essays without research samples will create problems later in the writing process as writers will frequently be writing an essay at the same time as they are actually doing research. How can writers turn their mind off and do research when they are in the middle of writing the essay and their head is spinning trying to work out what they are going to say next and whe re they are going to fit the argument in. It is a very frustrating experience and can mean that the essay as a whole will lack in quality and will never get published.Writing the essay is more important than any argument. Writers will spend more time working out an argument and will not think about the grammar and clarity of the essay until the last second. If you can afford to spend more time thinking about the essay and not the argument, you will pay off by ensuring that the essay as a whole has a higher quality and is more convincing. Writing the essay requires more concentration and the ideas will emerge later in the piece rather than first.Writing an essay of less than 150 words will not prove that the essay is poor and you will fail if the essay is judged by the length of your argument, so you should always be able to explain the point that you want to make in less than the required length. When you use reference links or make use of the clicky technique you will know where to point to in the essay. The fact that the article was a bit long does not necessarily mean that the writer has taken his argument to an extreme. If the essay is weak or contains a large number of errors, it may mean that you will have a very long piece to edit.It would be helpful to be able to tell what you wrote before you began to edit the article, but you may not be able to, if you are using the phrase 'argument' loosely. Sometimes it can be confusing as to whether you are arguing or offering an opinion. It will be much better to have some sort of working sample available so that you can refer to when you are editing.

Ethics off turture Free Essay Example, 1250 words

Food and water denial as a method of torture meant a strict schedule of bread and water. Sleep denial was practiced prior to questioning and often in combination with wall-standing. Torture is justified under certain circumstances that will provide information to save someone’s life or the lives of many. It is extensively understood that the United States tortured senior Al Qaeda leader Khalid Sheikh Mohammad. There is indisputable proof that it tortured huge numbers of Iraqi prisoners and there is strong support that it tormented prisoners at Guantanamo Bay prison in Cuba, where suspected al Qaeda terrorists are held (Lukes, 34). Victims of torture were usually subjected to this conditioning over the course of about a week. Another typical example in this situation is the ticking bomb in the mall. It is the German case of September 2002, which involved the kidnapping and assassination of 11-year-old Jakob von Metzler, and the intimidation by the police of his kidnapper with torture. After three day of Metzler’s kidnapping, security personnel watched a man collect the money and put him under arrest. The suspect toyed with the police about the location of the boy and the police chief permitted his officers in a written order to instill torture to the kidnapper. This method worked in this case and to disallow the use of preventive interrogational torture in such situation may be as ruthless and morally wrong as other ways may not yield positive results. It is ruthless since, in true tragic cases, the failure to use precautionary interrogational torture will result in the ruin of blameless individuals (Vinar, 332). Upholding the rights of the suspect will work against the rights, including the very basic right to life, of innocent persons. Denial the application of deterrent torture meant for interrogation in such cases is also insincere: experience tells us that when faced with severe terrorization to the life of the state, government -- any administration will take whatsoever actions it deems necessary bring the crisis to halt. Any rigid utter ban on torture sets unlikely stan dards that no one can expect to meet when faced with excessively difficult circumstances (Vinar, 328). To quote from Michael Walzer, sticking by the total ban on torture, no matter what, reflects a radicalism of people who do not expect to exercise power ever, and who are not prepared to make the judgments that this exercise requires.

The Absentee Father - 846 Words

In today’s society, it is common for family units to be missing a member that was once the backbone of American families. This member was the person who financially supported and provided for the remainder of the family, while also upholding the moral and religious values that the family would abide by. This absent figure is most commonly known as the father. Statistics show that â€Å"an estimated 24.7 million children (33%) live absent their biological father† (The Consequences of Fatherlessness). This means that approximately one in three children are fatherless. This startling fact reigns prevalent all throughout the American nation. For the father to be missing from a child’s life on a daily basis, there are various ways in which the child can be affected. As time passes and society changes, the way in which a family functions is continuing to evolve. The cause of the absentee father is the result of various changes in society, many of which tie back to the evolution of economics in America. As the role of women in society has changed, it has also caused the role of men to shift. Between 1948 and 2001, the amount of working women approximately doubled in size, growing from under 33% to more than 60% (The Changing Role of the Modern Day Father). This dramatic growth occurred while also bringing forth suspected results. As women began to increase in financial power, paternal financial support became less needed. When women began to depend less on men, men did not feel theShow MoreRelatedFather / Daughter Relationships In Emma, Pride And Prejudice, And Persuasion951 Words   |  4 PagesThe father/daughter relationships depicted in Jane Austen’s novels, Emma, Pride Prejudice, and Persuasion, are fairly similar in the varying degrees of indulgence and absentness on the part of the father; however, these relationships differ in terms of how their daughters treat them and the degree to which the daughters respect their fathers as we ll as how invested – or not invested – the fathers are in their daughter’s lives. Valuation of Immovable Properties free essay sample

It is human nature to create controversy even where it does not exist. Expert values have been fighting, in vain, to find out whether valuation is an art or a science. To set this rift at rest, Justice Viscount Simon of the House of Lords in Gold Coast Selection Trust case held that valuation is an art and not an exact science. Mathematical certainty is not demanded, nor indeed is it possible. Thus valuation cannot be tied up by rigid laws of nature or science. It also cannot work under fixed and inflexible set up of principles because it has great dependence in human nature and individual thinking. It can not be said that vacant flats are always required to be valued on comparable sales method. Sometimes circumstances may demand value estimation by Rental Method. Hence two flats in the same building may have different values for the same area. Similarly two adjacent plots in the same area may have different values because one plot falls in garden reservation and another plot is marked for commercial user. We will write a custom essay sample on Valuation of Immovable Properties or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page An old case of human intelligence affecting value of property is worth studying. An open plot of land was offered for sale in a posh locality of Mumbai. But there were no buyers for the plot because it was subjected to the covenant that no construction above 5 would be allowed to be put up in the plot. Owner failed to sell plot for 2 years in spite of his best efforts. One day a person came with an offer of Rs. 10 lacs with condition that the deal be completed in 2 days time. Owner was too happy and he immediately agreed to sell the property, but he also let the buyer know about the covenant. The purchaser replied that he was aware of that restriction. After the deal was completed, the curious vendor asked the purchaser about the proposed use to which the land would be put and he came to know that the purchaser intended to put up a petrol pump on the said plot. Thus human intelligence changed a `bad covenant into a lucrative business use. The plot worth few thousands fetched a price in lacs. That is why it is said that stream of thoughts are the wings gifted by the nature to the whole mankind. With these wings of thoughts, we can solve many riddles. One may wonder why Harshad Mehtas flat in NCPA Apartment at Nariman Point in April 2000 fetched only 460 lacs whereas a similar flat of Chabrias at the same period of time in the same building fetched 603 lacs. Both flats were sold in the open market. The reason for low price in the case of Harshad Mehtas flat was the forced sale under courts auction order. Purchasers exploited the distress condition and offered less price. It was a case of a unwilling seller and sale in the shortest period of time. In the other case, plenty of time for the free sale was envisaged, hence higher price was available.
